RAKESH JHUNJHUNWALA: THE BIG BULL

Rakesh Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala a successful investor, trader and a certified chartered accountant. 'Forbes' described him as an "Investor with a Midas touch"; 'India Today' called him the "pin-up boy of the current bull run"; and 'The Economic Times' named him the "Pied Piper of Indian bourses". He was one of the richest persons in India and was featured on the 'Forbes' richest Indians list. Jhunjhunwala who was born on 05 July 1950 also referred as Indian Warren Buffet. He completed his B.com From Sydenham Collage and thereafter Completed his C.A from Institute of Chartered Accountant of India.


He started taking interest in stock market after listening to his father’s discussions regarding markets and stocks with his friends. He was one of the greatest trader and investor Indian market has ever seen often referred to as Indian Warren Buffet. He began investing in 1985 with a capital of ₹5,000, with his first major profit in 1986.

He was also a co-founder of Akasa Air which became operational in august 2022. At the time of his death, he had an estimated net worth of US$5.8 billion, making him the 438th richest person in the world. He was a partner in his asset management firm, Rare Enterprises and the chairman of Aptech Limited and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. He was also on the board of several Indian companies. He was also the co-producer of several Bollywood movies such as 'English Vinglish', 'Shamitabh' and 'Ki & Ka'. His privately owned stock trading firm Rare Enterprises, derive its name from the first two initials of his name “RA” and his wife Rekha “RE”.

He was investigated for insider trading and settled with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in 2021. Jhunjhunwala was often referred to as the "Big Bull of India", and was widely known for his stock market predictions and bullish outlooks. The most valuable Listing Holding in his portfolio at the time of his death was watch and jewellery  maker Titan, part of the TATA Group.
